Dates & Times
The course begins Thursday evening, October 7th. Classes are held on Zoom on Thursdays from 6:30 pm to 8:45 pm. The course concludes on December 16th. There are a total of 10 class meetings.  We will observe the Thanksgiving holiday on November 25th and resume class the following week. All lessons are video recorded and will be distributed via a link only to those students who have missed a class due to an absence.

Zoom Classes
Our class sessions will be held on Zoom. I've taught numerous courses on Zoom over the last year, and they have gone exceptionally well. Please note you should have a good internet connection to avoid any technical issues. Valenti Lingua will not be held responsible for any connectivity issues the student may have.

A little information about the class:
Italian 101 is structured as a first semester beginning Italian class. Homework is assigned on a weekly basis, but no grades will be issued. This class is perfect for a beginner with no previous Italian language experience, or for those at an elementary level who need to review basic Italian language and grammar. This is a structured class, taught to accommodate the pace of the group. Italian 101 will aid those who desire to begin speaking and understanding Italian. Our goal will be to cover the first 3 units of our text. Italian 101 will also provide a solid foundation for those who wish to continue studying Italian with me upon completion of this course. Beginning Italian courses tend to fill up fast. A spot in the class will only be reserved once both the payment and enrollment form have been received.

Cost for the program:
Tuition is $500.00 per student. Payment is due by Friday, September 24th, at 10:00 pm. Students may pay via Zelle or credit card. Zelle payments are preferred. Don't delay and run the risk of the class filling up before you enroll. Italian 101 courses often fill up, and I have to turn away students. Students must be at least 18 years of age or have permission of the instructor to enroll.

Textbook Information:
“Ciao” 6th edition by Carla Larese Riga. Used copies are available, and I would encourage you to purchase a used copy to keep the cost down. You do not need the CD or DVD that may accompany some of the used texts. However, you are welcome to purchase a text that comes with these supplements if you'd like.  Again, be sure to get the 6th edition, and feel free to shop around.

Italian Cinema & Language Class April 2018

I'm very excited to offer another Italian Cinema class!

Please note this course is just as much a language class as it is a cinema class. Italian films are used as a tool to help students improve their language skills in the following areas: listening comprehension, speaking, vocabulary, sentence structure, and grammar. All of this is accomplished in an entertaining way. Five classes will be devoted to viewing Italian films with English subtitles. The other classes will focus on film discussions in Italian and correcting the homework.

Films will be shown on the odd weeks (starting with the first class) and the film discussions and reviewing of homework will take place on the even weeks. As an example we would view a film on week one. The following week we would discuss the film and correct the homework that was assigned. We will also view some scenes a second time during the film discussions. Homework is assigned after each film viewing. This class is ideal for an intermediate or advanced student of Italian, but beginners are also welcome. Beginners can audit and participate at their leisure. However, auditing students must still pay the full course tuition.

Italian Cinema & Language: Classes begin Thursday, April 12th. We’ll meet on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 8:45. The course will conclude on June 14th (10 two hour sessions). Classes are offered in a classroom near Indian Bend & Scottsdale Road. The address will be sent to students once they have submitted the enrollment form.

Cost for the entire program: $350.00 with a total of 10 classes of two hour meetings. Payment and enrollment forms are due by Friday, March 30th. Tuition increases to 375.00 on March 31st. Don't delay and run the risk of the class filling up before you enroll.

Materials (handouts) are free and will be provided via email attachments. Students will print their own materials and bring them to class. Materials will consist of handouts dealing with each of the films we will view.
