Italian 103 January 2019

Italian 103 January 2019

Dates & Times

Classes start Thursday evening, January 10th. We’ll meet on Thursdays from 6:25 pm to 8:50 pm for 10 consecutive weeks.  The course will conclude on March 14th. (10, two hour plus sessions)

Classes are held in a classroom near Lincoln and Scottsdale Rd.  We’ll have a room with a white board, tables, chairs, air conditioning and plenty of parking. We have all the amenities we need for a comfortable classroom environment.  The address will be sent to students who have started the enrollment process by completing and returning the attached form.

A little information about the class:

Italian 103 is structured as a third semester Italian class. A main focus of this class will be conversation, the Imperfect tense and the imperative mood, indirect object pronouns, and direct object pronouns. Homework will be assigned on a weekly basis, but there won’t be any grades. Students are expected to complete the homework assignments and prepare for class. Student preparation in 103 is a prerequisite for admission into the subsequent ITA 201 class.  ITA 103 is perfect for those who have completed Italian 102.  Our goal will be to cover chapters 9 – 11 of our text. Italian 103 will also provide a solid foundation for those who wish to continue to study Italian with me upon completion of this course. Students who have not completed Italian 102 with Valenti Lingua may need to take an oral and written assessment test prior to enrolling in 103.

Cost for the program: $375.00 per student. Payment is due by Friday, January 4th. Enrollment closes at 11:00 pm. Don’t delay and run the risk of the class filling up before you enroll. These classes do fill, and I have to turn away students. Students must be at least 18 years of age or have permission of the instructor to enroll.

Textbook Information / Yabla Website:
“Ciao” 6th edition by Carla Larese Riga. Used copies are available, and I would encourage you to purchase a used copy to keep the cost down. You do not need the CD or DVD that may accompany some of the used texts. However, you are welcome to purchase a text that comes with these supplements if you’d like. If you find an inexpensive copy with the CD’s, go ahead and purchase it. Again, be sure to get the 6th edition, and feel free to shop around.

2) Once enrolled, refunds will not be issued, and classes will not be prorated. In the event the class is cancelled due to an insufficient number of students (very unlikely), those who have paid will receive a prompt and full refund. Tuition for Italian 103 can only be applied to the Italian 103 class taught from January to March of 2019. The tuition cannot be used as credit for other future classes or private lessons in the event that a student enrolls in this course and does not attend (regardless of the student’s excuse).
