Italian 101 (Beginning Italian) April 2019
Dates & Times
The course begins Wednesday evening, April 17th. We’ll meet on Wednesdays from 6:25 pm to 8:50 pm. The course will conclude on June 19th. There are a total of 10 class meetings. Classes are audio recorded and distributed to students making it easier for students to stay current in case of a few absences.
Our class sessions are held in a classroom near Lincoln and Scottsdale Rd. We’ll have a room with white boards, tables, chairs, air conditioning and plenty of parking. We have all the amenities we need for a comfortable classroom environment. The address will be sent to students who have started the enrollment process by completing and returning the attached form.
A little information about the class:
Italian 101 is structured as a first semester beginning Italian class. There will be homework assigned on a weekly basis, but no grades will be issued. This class is perfect for a beginner with no previous Italian language experience, or for those at an elementary level who need to review basic Italian language and grammar. This is a structured class, taught to accommodate the pace of the group. Italian 101 will aid those who desire to begin speaking and understanding Italian by teaching basic grammar and vocabulary. Our goal will be to cover the first 4 units of our text. Italian 101 will also provide a solid foundation for those who wish to continue studying Italian with me upon completion of this course. Beginning Italian courses tend to fill up fast. A spot in the class will be reserved only once both the payment and enrollment form have been received.
Cost for the program:
Tuition is $375.00 per student. Payment is due by Tuesday, April 9th, at 11:00 pm. Don’t delay and run the risk of the class filling up before you enroll. Italian 101 courses often fill up, and I have to turn away students. Students must be at least 18 years of age or have permission of the instructor to enroll.
“Ciao” 6th edition by Carla Larese Riga. Used copies are available, and I would encourage you to purchase a used copy to keep the cost down. You do not need the CD or DVD that may accompany some of the used texts. However, you are welcome to purchase a text that comes with these supplements if you’d like. If you find an inexpensive copy with the CD’s, go ahead and purchase it. Again, be sure to get the 6th edition, and feel free to shop around.
