Italian 201 April 2019
If you have not previously taken classes with Valenti Lingua you may need to complete both an oral and written assessment prior to enrolling in ITA 201. The oral assessment can be taken via Skype or in person. Please call Valenti Lingua at 480 628-0165 to schedule an appointment.
Dates and times: Classes start April 1st. We’ll meet on Monday evenings from 6:30 pm to 8:50 pm. The course will conclude on June 10th. (10 sessions). Classes are audio recorded and distributed to students making it easier for students to stay current in case of a few absences.
Location: Classes are offered in a classroom near Lincoln and Scottsdale Rd. The exact address will be sent to students who have submitted an enrollment form.
A little information about the class:
Italian 201 is structured as a fourth semester Italian class. A main focus of this class will be conversation, the future tense, the verb “piacere”, double object pronouns, the present conditional, and past conditional. Homework will be assigned on a weekly basis, but there won’t be any grades. Students are expected to complete all homework assignments and prepare for class. Student preparation in 201 is a prerequisite for admission into the subsequent ITA 202 class. Our goal will be to cover chapters 12 – 14 of our text. Italian 201 will also provide a solid foundation for those who wish to continue to study Italian with Valenti Lingua upon completion of 201. Students who have not completed Italian 103 with Valenti Lingua may need to take an oral and written assessment test prior to enrollment. All homework assignments will be sent via email. Once enrolled I will send students the first set of assignments for the first class. A digital audio recording of classes will be made available to students in case of an absence. Students have found these recordings to be helpful.
Cost for the program: Tuition is $375.00. Payment and enrollment forms are due by 11:00 pm, Friday, March 22nd. Enrollment closes at 11:00 pm. Students must be at least 18 years of age or have permission of the instructor to enroll
Textbook Information:
“Ciao” 6th edition by Carla Larese Riga. Used copies are available, and I would encourage you to purchase a used copy to keep the cost down. You do not need the CD or DVD that may accompany some of the used texts. However, you are welcome to purchase a text that comes with these supplements if you’d like. Again, be sure to get the 6th edition. Feel free to shop around.
Here is a link to Amazon where the book can be purchased used:
A membership to the language learning website Yabla will be required. Students may obtain a considerable discount by purchasing a membership through me once the class begins. Students will be given different options at the beginning of our course. I’d suggest waiting until the course begins prior to purchasing a subscription.
How to Enroll:
