I am in my second Italian course in Rome. To my surprise, I was placed in the advanced group after nine months with Davide. The other students in my class are in their third month of total immersion, and thanks to Davide, my grammar and base understanding of the language are stronger than theirs. I have been taking Italian language classes with Valenti Lingua for a coulple of years now. These classes are by far the best I’ve ever attended, and this cinema class was so much fun. Davide makes learning interesting and fun while focusing on important aspects like grammar and usage.

Spending time once a week in the cinema class over the summer helped to keep the language fresh. Being able to view the films in a group then discuss was also a great way to boost listening skills as well as “thinking on the fly” skills.

I started in Davide’s Italian 101 class after a 17-year hiatus from Italian lessons. The group lessons were really fun, engaging and memorable and I was excited to continue on to 102. Due to a scheduling conflict though I switched to private lessons and WOW! Italian lessons just went to a whole new level! Davide is an experienced professional in the classroom. What you might not notice at first is his leadership ability. He is engaged and engaging. He occasionally gives us delightful memories of his childhood and schooling which perhaps purposefully assist us in comprehension and memorization. He is charming and unassuming yet knows in what direction it is best to take the class to teach us. I was surprised how much I had learned. If experience counts, then you can count on Davide. He is young, but he certainly is wise. He’s always neutral, and never inappropriate. I particularly enjoyed his openness to questions, and his ability to advance us with comprehensible and interesting responses. You will not just speak it but you will read it and you will write it—all of which are truly essential. He’s also very cognizant and sharing of the idioms, of colloquialisms, of modern speech and vocabulary.

I’ve wanted to learn Italian for a long time and tried some of the language tapes and other “convenient” resources in past years. However, I wasn’t successful doing it on my own. In 2019, I decided to get serious and I signed up for class with Valenti Lingua. It was a great decision. I thoroughly enjoyed Italian 101 and the level and pace of the class were perfect for my needs. Davide is the best in the business with his extensive experience and knowledge of the language. He is patient, supportive and leads a fun class. The other benefit was meeting new people in class that have the same desire as me to learn Italian. They made the class even more enjoyable while motivating me to work hard and be successful. It was such a great experience that I immediately signed up for Italian 102. I have been taking private Italian lessons with Davide for about 6 months now. Davide does a great job of keeping the lessons at my pace and I’m astounded at how much I’ve learned in this short time. Davide is very encouraging, very knowledgeable, and a superb teacher. The lessons are always so much fun! I always look forward to my lesson!

I have taken Italian 101 and 102 from Davide.  I have had many Italian teachers in my time, American and Italian.  Davide is the best!  He is structured enough to keep learning steady, he provides enough variation to accommodate different styles of learning and to create interest.  And he has a fun sense of humor.  But most importantly, he gets to know his students well, how they learn, how they speak, how to present in a way to move a student over a hurdle without making them feel uncomfortable.

The Italian classes I’ve taken with Davide are effective and have truly helped me to understand the Italian language.  I am now entering my 3rd class with Davide, and looking forward to even more immersion and experience with speaking Italian.  The homework and Yabla assignments really push me to want to do my best and incorporate all the language I have learned so far.  I’m looking forward to going back to Italy and using my new skills!  Davide has a teaching style that is easy-going, yet effective for making the labor of learning a new language enjoyable.  He mixes in interesting facts, and modern-day information since he grew up speaking Italian and has spent much of his life in Italian homes.
